Dry Emboss

Awe yes some of us like to emboss our cards and they look so awesome to..here i used a Stampin Up folder called basket weave and I just love it cause it reminds of a page full of very tiny crosses.

I had a birthday way back when and sent out about 25 thank-you’s and wanted a clean and simple look… so this was what I came up with…The Yellow Card stock is from Stampin Up also and that is what I embosses..it was a gift from a friend for my birthday to…the flowers is another stampin up stamp and I colored it with my Prisma pencils and used stickles in the middle and crystal effects on the petals..thank for stopping in and have a great day…

A CRAFTING START using “INKS”

Well when you think about this challenge inks hmmmm!!! I went what about inks..well going into that element of fun yikes there are so many inks to use…you can stamp with ink..you can sponge with your ink so so many ways to ink…for me I chose to print in ink …this tree was from My Grafico from a new Brag Party group…and it was free so come join in on the fun and challenges there as well HERE..the image can also be seen HERE it is called Woodland Forest by Mels Brushes…So I am doing a double whammy here… since my challenge for the Design team this week was ink and My Grafico was having a wonderful challenge themselves why not do them both in one..Don't forget to stop by A CRAFTING START to get in on the fun there to HERE…dont forget to leave some love and who knows I might stop by your place to real soon LOL..
I did an ink print using a gingham background and a calendar page for April it just seemed to fit with the tree…also it is being hung by some cute mini flower clothes pegs found at my local dollar store and the calendar is for 2012..tfl

How awesome not only do I have and ATC swap going on but I chose to do some snowmen so of course where else but to show off but with Cropstop and there awesome challenges…Have you had your first snow fall of this season? I used my MTC to get the images of the snowman and the arms just to cute…then not sure about the stamp but have had it for a while from one of Michael's bins for 1-2 dollars…the tree was a sizzex set as a gift from a good friend (Elaine) and the snow on the trees is white liquid pearl…

A CRAFTING START and so it is our challenge for this week is to use Stickles if you have it or maybe just some fun glitter..so many types out there to choose from….My daughter is having a birthday soon… and she loves Tinkerbelle… so what more to make then one of her favourite Disney characters...which by the way free coloring pages to pick from HERE Called printer Kids…

Oh my goodness have you heard… like have you yet….there is a totally new site opening up for the new and the old why ???…cause ya just might need a refresher course on some things LOL..It’s called as the title says A crafting start…so many people want to know where to.. how to ..show me it all…and can you show me that again…well I think you will find it HERE

You will find out how to use digis and all sorts of fun stuff …there will be prizes and many, many other challenges for you to take part in…so why not give it a whirl and stop by some time real soon…My first project is here and tfl…the digi is obtained HERE at a free digi site…my two cards have there digis coming from these places the MOUSE and the Zombie girl can be found there…

Here I coloured the mouse with Crayola crayons and blended with OMS (odourless mineral spirits) My DP (decorative paper) is from a free paper print off @ Gina “K” Stamp TV HERE and click on the freebies and scroll for the paper with a video if they keep it up…I used liquid pearl for my snow and some diamond stickles for the other sparkly pieces…the mouse was cut out and then mounted with pop dots to give it some dimension…Clean and simple using a digi and a whole lot of fun…

Zombies seem to be the rage these days… yikes the living dead…. what is wrong with this picture LOL…Again I used the Gina “K DP for my BG (background) and m y zombie is by Lili also did her in Crayola crayons and blended with OMS..used crystal stickles for some spots to add fun and then cut her out and mounted the Zombie to the main card with pop dots for depth and POP …so catch you in the posts and stop by any time for a look see…

Well we had some really cute clip art to work with and HERE is the link to see them all…Martha asks what is our favourite season…man that was hard cause I have 2…Spring and Fall…I chose spring though since it is a time of renewed life from our cold Canadian weather…we celebrate 4 seasons and all are just as amazing as the other…

On my card I used mauve Card stock.. Stampin-Up corner punch…I believe it is the Iron handle but forgive me if its not…the owl is so cut from My Grafico clip art by Designer: JW Illustrations…I used some diamond stickles on it and mounted it with a pop dot…the sentiment also come from Stampin-Up spring collection that I have had for a very long time…

60th Birthday

Well we all have birthdays some we like and some we don’t….my 60th was a keeper man it ran for a whole week…started with my son giving me a new phone…then on the day he took the family out for dinner to the Mandarin Restaurant (Chinese food) then on Sunday, like yesterday… my daughter rented a hall for a some friends and family to come help celebrate. And celebrate we did…lots of fun was had …I even had a cry..why you might ask well a lady who runs the Stampin Canada web site was invited and I was under the impression she couldn't make it so was I looking for her NOOOooo!!!!…all of a sudden 2 girls came in and said we have a surprise guest with us… well holy moly it was her the infamous Wenchie from Winnipeg...and that folks brought tears to my eyes…We had people from Winnipeg,,,Hamilton…Burlington…Woodstock… Thorold…St. Catharines…Niagara Falls…it was all of Southern Ontario crafting friends… family and close friend's…My 2 good friends Lou-Anne and Kathy helped to bring all this together for my special day…I thank them very much…my Bible study gals did a great gift of also helping with setting up and organizing things as well…what a wonderful group effort done by all…we had a pot luck dinner…. as for me at 60 what do you buy but an old gal …other then huge underwear and nighties/socks LOL…So I had asked for fellowship with friends and family and FOOD,that was gift enough for me… for a long time I have wanted those Prisma pencils and have saved and saved and of course things happen and the money dwindles and ya still save cause I know eventually I was getting them...Well guess the word got out because I received so many gift certificates for Michaels that I coulda bought 2 sets of 132 with all the 50% discount coupons I got with them….Was I shocked or what…so I bought 2 circle punches along with the money and I still have 70 plus dollars to spend @ Michaels…I was one spoiled but much appreciated lady that day…

I also got 2 gift certificates for Wal-Mart and I used them to get a wonderful phone cover for that new phone I don't wanna ruin it with dropping…and money still to spend there…as well a wonderful gal and her girls gave me a gift card for another fave restaurant of ours and its enough to take out the whole family…

Like I said spoiled spoiled spoiled…

THANKS EVERYONE FOR HELPING ME SPEND THE BEST BIRTHDAY EVER…

The title says it all… our young man has turned 18 today… this is also the day and date… imagine that for such a special turn in ones life…I had made a card for this ages ago and danged if I could find that sucker which in turn led me to make this darling one last night… and I must say I am quite pleased with it..

I used silver Card Stock and embossed it with a Cuttle Bug folder that says Happy Birthday all over it…then to my advantage Gina “K” TV was giving away some free decorative paper to play with and that was perfect for the number 18 which I used My Cricut to cut it out and weld together..and on the off stripe I used diamond stickles to give it that wow affect…not bad for a boys/mans card for a birthday…TFL and be blessed always

He loves Turkey so that's dinner today with all the trimmings with cake family and friends…

OMG what a challenge this one was for me… Altered items was the DT challenge ….and I have a hard time with cards and images already given to me to make it exciting for all to look at…LOL not really love my card making...but today I took a clothes Pin and thought hmm!!! place a magnet on the back… fancy up my flower that my Friend Barb G. gave me to play with…and add a recipe card to it…Walla I have a holder to put on the vent over the stove and baking can be done easily…thanks for getting my brain working Martha…and maybe you can make a holder for yourself too!!!

Hi there creative stampers!! I hope your Monday kicks off a great week and what better way than with a fun challenge to get your creative juices flowing??

I am so excited to bring you this week's Mix It Up Monday challenge - to create a striped background on your card! It's so easy to do and creates a unique background especially when your go to background tends to be pattern paper a lot (personally, I have not been wanting to use pattern paper that much, which explains why I wanted to make this background!) All I did was choose my marker colors (I used Copics because they have different size tips) and put my cardstock square on my scor-mat's grid to get my ruler lined up perfectly. Then, I varied the widths between marker colors and had fun!

Mix It Up Monday Challenge---Breaking All The Rules

Hey ya'll!! Welcome to another Mix It Up Monday, hosted by yours truly...ME! And this time, we are Breaking All the Rules!! That is my challenge to you today, to break the rules...what rules? Well, as you know, in art, there ARE rules that some follow such as Rule of Odds, Rule of Thirds, Rule of Space...etc...While I wont go into an art lesson, which Im far from being able to teach, lol! I will give you some examples that you can do to 'Break the Rules' in our little hobby here! Examples include, but not limited to:

1. TWO brads/flowers/pearls (no odd #s!).
2. Put the image at an angle or not centered.
3. Use colors that clash.
4. No standard size card...ex. 41/4 x 51/2 is a standard size card, make a card anything BUT that size.

Free For All Friday Challenge

Welcome to another Free For All Friday Challenge here at Stamp TV!! I couldn't think of a better way than to end the week than with a fun challenge. My inspiration for this challenge came from the amazing weather we've been having here in California, so hope you like it
My challenge is called Lazy Summer Days. Here are the details:

Create a CAS (Clean and Simple) card.
The theme should be "Summer".
You can stamp your image but don't color it in. This means you can't use any coloring tools - no Copics, no markers, no color pencils, no crayons, no chalks, etc. This is where the "Lazy" comes in!
HERE is where you can post and look at the sample card done...but in the mean time here is mine..tfl

and no I didn't color my drum set it reflects the color of the orange from the Clear stickles I used in real life it is clear....

Challenge #30: Anything lace!

Crop Stop just never stops to amaze me with all there challenges and this is no exception …

This week we challenge you to go grab the lace that you have been "collecting" for so long (or just the one you picked this week) and use it. Or any lace, we want you to show us lace on your project.

And this is my lacy project…I used a Nellie lace doily die and some Lace I bought at a scrapfest a few month ago …TFL

Mini Vacation In Erie PA

Awe to be home again but what a fun mini holiday…We took a trip as it says to Erie PA..we live in Canada and from our closest border its about a 2 hour drive from Niagara Falls Ontario…We stayed @ the Days Inn Erie for 3 nights and found it to be quite adequate for 4 -- 2 double beds ..fridge…in room safe…cold, cold AC LOL…and hot breakfast daily @ very reasonable prices…The place was clean and the pool was well kept and the temperature was perfect..they also are pet friendly for those who have fur babies they travel with…We went to the Erie Zoo and it was awesome so many fun things to see and doo as I show here in a few photos

Gorilla Lions Rare White Rhino these were may faves so this is what I chose to share with you…

…we also took our Fur Baby to a doggie day care in Erie called Peninsula Pups Doggie Daycare…they are at 801 W. 12th St. Erie Pa 16501,,,814-454-PUPS (7877)..they also are on FB and her is that page addy if your in the area and need of sitting services for your baby

and our Ty just giving us a look of your not taking me anywhere I want to stay home haha!!!but in the end she made some new animal friends and people friends…if you live there or just visiting give them a call you wont be disappointed…they need at least a week to make sure your all up on your fur babies shots and what is required…easy peasy cause if you love your babies as much as we do then the process is quite simple …

When she arrived her first day she was quiet and timid and like a perfect little princess…but we told them no no give her time she will say this my place and take over welllll the 2nd day and her last lucky for them LOL she showed them …yup this is my joint and I'm doing as I please…today I want my family and we told them she can scale a fence if she wants ,,,no they said LOL oh yes 6 feet later five minutes after we left up and almost over she went Ida loved to have seen there faces when that happened…They said we really know our dog she was a totally different girl the next day but at least for the better part she behaved…what an experience for us all that was good for us and her…and it made touring so much easier …we just couldn't leave her in the car or hotel just not fair all around…so be pet friendly no matter where or what you do and please scoop the poop I walk there to …

If you have been to Grove City then you know about the outlet mall holy moly the shopping and the size of the place is unbelievable…LOL lot of bargoons to be had..We also spent some time at the Millcreek Mall and sad to say my crafting friends I didn't find a thing a you believe that I did look but not a whole lot guess my mind was boggled by the size of all these place wowzers…gotta plan a trip next time just for me and not 3 men who are LOL shoe crazy…If you look front row 2nd from the left those lonely white pair they belong to me he!! he!!the small sandal in the back my grandson bought those for his mom awe how thoughtful…but the rest of those honkin shoes belong to 3 guys who I now believe are worse then women in the shoe dept. like 9 pairs of shoes for 3 ppl 3 pair each whyyyyyy??? LOL…Love my guys..and why wouldn't I ???

Funky Fold

this is where the original can be found…I took the project one step further and altered the main part of the card to be a A2/1/4 fold size….
I then just measured the inner pieces to get my sizing as I progressed along…which you can also do.
Measurements:
1. 8” X 5 1/2” card stock
2. On the outside cut in one inch from the one inch mark to the 7 inch mark…on both sides.
3. Outside on the one inch score @ 1”---2”---&---5”
4. On the inside piece score @ the 4”.
5. Fold and decorate the same as in supplied video link…this is all on a smaller scale for those again who like the A2/1/4 fold cards.

Here is my sketch for the cutting and scoring hope it helps…

Challenge #29: Rosettes and more rosettes

I am sure you have seen those amazing rosette's project all around the internet and magazines. There are even tons of die cuts to make them, including a Tim Holtz one. Below is a tutorial on how to use the Decorative Strip Die - Paper Rosette by Tim Holtz.
For this week we want you to show us some rosettes, they can be done with die cuts or by simply folding them by hand.
I chose to do mine by hand using my Score-Pal…not to shabby for my first rosette I’d say hehe!!! This was fun to make and a challenge to get it to stay flat …so you really need some heavy duty glue of sorts for this one…

I’ve included the video that CropStop has graciously gave for us to use….thanks CropStop…
and now after enough natter here is my take on the challenge..Oh yes almost forgot my friend Barbara G @ Barb’s Creative Corner showed me a few weeks ago at her cottage how to actually do these ones by hand…. like talk about God knowing what I was going to need to know…so thanks for that Barb…

Challenge #28: Get Wet!

Use a wet medium on your card, layout or altered project. It can be paints, mists, Smooch, liquid ink, etc. Have fun and get wet!

We was this a challenge… you be your wet self it was… but with some suggestions from a helping friend I managed to pull it off…First I just think this house mouse image is adorable…and thought lets try this one…well I used watered down liquid pearl X2 and cut out the flower part to give it the pop it deserved…Don't ya just love how it shines to make the flower my focal point..well I do even if you don't LOL..
the DP paper was won in a other challenge and the words on it say Story of Life … thought that was good for this image…TFL and stop by again don’t forget I will be here at some point…

Graduation 2011

How did that time come so quickly I just don’t know…it all started on a cool October in 1993…3 pounds/actually less & 3 months to early but what a dolly…he was/and still is..Now he’s 6 feet tall and looks down on me OMG…find me a chair so I can give him a hug LOL…His dad and I are so proud of his accomplishments this day June 29,2011…Our boy won a Silver Medallion which was for achieving 80% or better 20 students were given this award out of 195 graduating students….All the students looked wonderful..it seemed like the color for this year was purple..lots of purple out there hehe!!!…Very multicultural group of graduates it was so colourful…I just loved it all…His sister, nephew , cousin of nephew, dad and me the stepmother/not a wicked one either…enjoyed all of the commencement exercises…so to show you this proud parent moment I present to you our graduate of the class of 2011 St. Catharines Collegiate Institute & Vocational School..

In this weeks challenge we couldn’t use any pink…Now when your working with fabulous flowers and pixies/fairies what other color then pink comes to mind…I managed to get it all together leaving out that awesome color pink LOL..in my project I used Crayola crayons and the colors were

-tan

-orchid

-ruby red

-golden yellow

-sky blue

-lemon yellow

-lime green

and my stickles were waterfall and diamond

Today we visit Rosemary at her blog and she has quite the cute challenge for us all to see and do..
Rosemary’s challenge for you is called "Under the Sea" and I want you to create a card or 3-D project with things found in the sea.......such as seashells, fish, sea creatures, mermaids, fishing nets, etc. I've made a Shadow Box Card using Little Mermaid Tilda & the Magnolia Seahorse. I found this awesome tutorial on how to make this card on Heather's Blog here and used my Scor-Pal and Scor-tape to put it together.
Here is y take with a mermaid digi I found on line and I popped her right off the card front..gave her some stickle for glitter and colored the image with Crayola crayons..so Remember to stop in at Rosemary's log to do the challenge and find the next letter..

well the second part to hop is here and so is the mystery word's letter…we had to have a favourite summer song….I don’t really have a favourite song I have so many songs running thru my mind and most of them reflect my Lord Jesus Christ and all he has done for us… so my card is about all the praise and worship verses and songs out there and we all know he loved the little sparrows and this is my take on the challenge..tfl

This is challenge #20 @ A Day For Daisies

Their new challenge is all about "new", too! We want you to try a NEW (to you) TECHNIQUE working with digis! So step out of your comfort zone and think outside the box! Try a technique with an ADFD digi that you've never tried before!

Never did this fold before so her is my sample for you to enjoy…tfl…and do come visit again

Triangular Fold

Triangular Tri-fold
Designer Beate Johns Copyright © 2007
Supplies needed:
Scor-Pal®
One piece of cardstock 3 1/2" x 10 1/2"
One 3 1/4" square of patterned paper cut in half diagonally
Image that will fit on a 3 1/2" card front
Ribbon
Adhesive

Step one: Line your cardstock up with left and top fence of your Scor-Pal and score at 3 1/2" and 7".

Step two: Align one corner of your cardstock with the 7.333” groove, this is the one marked with the inverted triangle and the opposite corner on the same groove. See picture. Score the top square diagonally.

Step three: Turn cardstock around and repeat step two on the other corner square to add a diagonal score through that square. Make sure both diagonals go in the same
direction

Step four: Fold your left square into the middle and then fold the lower triangle up.
Fold your right square into the middle and then fold the upper triangle

This sketch is awesome from CropStop and had to do another as well over at My Sketch world there is a challenge using trash… and well the red piece was about to go… the picture was from advertising that came this week, and was going in recycle….I lightly sanded the bubbles in the background to give it a tiny bit of pop… so this was as trashy as I could get enjoy and tfl

Complimentary Colors is the Cropstop challenge …
This week we challenge you to use your Copics markers (or any other coloring tools) to show us some complimentary colors.
Complimentary colors are pairs of colors that are of “opposite” hue in some color model (like the color wheel). Complementary colors create more interest when used together in a project.

Flower Tutorial by Paulien van den Bosch

Flower tutorial

How come, doing this tutorial:
A few friends and I were chatting away, when it was Romy who pointed us
at the new uploaded projects of Ingvild Bolme
and Romy esp pointed out, the flowers Ingvild used on her cards. Because she loves them to pieces!!! So... I went off to Ingvild her blog and started searching for these flowers, cause Romy said.... Ingvild had something to do with designing these Gorgeous Corine Collection flowers. Me.... who loves creating flowers, thought of using baby-wipes for the petals, and that is... how this tutorial came to life.
Anyway... here's what you need:
supplies needed: baby-wipes - aluminium foil - brayer - Gesso - distress inks (any color you want) - Puffy paint - crackle paint (I used peeled paint) - heatgun - thread (you might wanna use some waxcoated thread) - scraps of cardstock - hot glue gun - tweezer - black acrylic paint - glimmermist or iridescent medium.
Before you can get to work:
Take a baby wipe and let it dry completely, before you color it.
You can color it with distress inks or mists, what ever you want.
After coloring, let it airdry.
Take a piece of aluminium foil and add a medium layer of gesso to it

Get your colored babwipe and place it over the layer of Gesso.

Get another piece of aluminium foil and place it over it. Kinda like sandwich it between the layers of aluminium foil. Brayer it. (yes.... mine is not a fancy one...lol)

now get your 1 side coated baby wipe off of it and let it dry completely.
here comes the fun part:
You can now start cutting your petals.
I fold my baby wipe a couple of times, before cutting.

Get your puffy paint out and add it to your petals, let it air dry for an hour or so

Take your heatgun out and heatset the puffy paint.

You might want to use your tweezer to hold the petals. If you heat it just a LITTLE longer the petals will start shaping a bit. Don't heat it too long, or your petal will burn.

For the stamen I used regular thread, (wax coated is perfect for this) which I cut in pieces. Dip the ends
in a mix of puffypaint and, color of your choice, crackle paint. (I used peeled paint)
heatset the ends of your thread.

repeat this step for as many stamen you want ( I used 5 pieces of thread, which give me 10 tiny stamen)

Cut 2 small circles. don't need to be perfect. and punch a hole in one of them.

Get a couple stamen together, and stick them through a little circle of cardstock.

Glue the ends at the bottom

Place another little cardstock circle on top.

You have now created your base for you flower. (you may want to cut the ends, that are sticking out)

Now glue your petals to your base.

You can add some dimension... by glue-ing a row of pearl strand first to the base,
something like this:

You can give your flower a light shimmer by using glimmermist or like I did, using some Iridescent medium.

The little black spots on the petals:... I made, using my tweezer, dipping it in black acrylic paint.

and your done!! Aren't they cute??

This week's CropStop Challenge is.... an ATC using "Time" as the theme. Clocks, etc. ATC's are 2 /12 x 3 1/2 inch trading cards to be "swapped" with your crafting friends! We want to see you "make the time" to create one too!

This weeks is about creating Highlights and shadows using your copics or other coloring mediums. Michelle has been showing a few tutorials explaining how to create a realist look using shadows and highlights. CropStop is highlighting Copic markers for the entire month of May.
